چکیده

The hypocalcemic activity("calcium activity"; Ito, 1960)of parotin was reported to be more unstable in acid aqueous solution than in alkaline solution, and its activity decreased when incubated in phosphate buffer of pH 7.6 at 40•Ž for 1 hr.(Ito and Mizutani, 1952b). The present experiments were undertaken to study the effect of heat, acid, and alkaline treatments on the biological as well as physicochemical properties of parotin in solution.

Studies on the salivary gland hormones labeled with I 131. 3. Effect of ligation of several blood vessels on the degradation and distribution of I 131-labeled parotin in vivo.

Previously it was reported that large localization of radioactivity was found in liver, kidney and spleen following the intravenous injection of I 131-labeled Parotin to rats(Tanaka and Ito,1958). And subsequently it was also observed that the rate of degradation of I 131-labeled Parotin in vivo was remarkably decreased by the simultaneous injection of intact Parotin with the labeled Parotin to...

[The study of physiological chemistry on active fragments of the salivary gland hormone].

We previously presented evidence that the salivary gland hormone, parotin, is composed of a subunit which has a molecular weight of 45000 and possesses the biological and immunological activities of parotin. In this paper the isolation of fragments from a tryptic digest of the subunit and their physiological chemistry were investigated to obtain active components of the subunit. After 2 g of th...

Endocrinol. Jap., Vol.1, No.1(1954). BIOCHEMICAL STUDIES ON SALIVARY GLAND HORMONE

In order to prove the validity of the'salivary gland endocrine theory' proposed by Dr. T. Ogata(Tokyo University)la), the author and his collaborators have engaged in this study for approximately 15 years. In 1944, the author and his associates succeeded in isolating a crude protein from the bovine parotid gland which remarkably promoted the calcification of teeth and reduced the calcium level ...

Studies on the salivary gland hormones labeled with I 131. 4. Studies on the degradation of I 131 labeled parotin by several tissue homogenates of rat.

Recently it was reported from this laboratory as one of a series of studies on the Salivary Gland Hormones, that liver and spleen were the main and characteristic sites of localization of radioactivity after administration of I 131 labeled Parotin to rats(Tanaka and Ito, 1958). And subsequently it was also observed that this characteristic localization of radioactivity in the liver and spleen a...

Quantification of Partial Volume Effects in Salivary Glands SPECT Images after Radiation Therapy of Head and Neck Tumors

Introduction: Radical radiation therapy of head and neck cancers may injure the salivary glands and reduce their function. Single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) images maybe used to evaluate function post-therapy. However, accurate quantification is hindered by the partial volume effects (PVEs). The present study involved the introduction of a PVEs quantif...
